Habitat for Humanity Tucson’s Veterans Build partners with military service members, their families and the families of the fallen to reinforce their strength and self-reliance through volunteerism, homeownership and home repair.
By partnering with Habitat Tucson, veterans have an opportunity to complete the requirements of our homeownership program and ultimately purchase a new, energy-efficient home with an affordable mortgage.
Right now – we are partnering with Victor, a Tucson Navy Veteran, to build a safe, decent, affordable home.
Victor joined the Navy on his eighteenth birthday. He got right to work and quickly promoted through the ranks in his eight-year stint in the military.
Each Habitat for Humanity Tucson homebuyer will complete 250 hours of “sweat equity”, helping build their homes and the homes of their neighbors. They will also complete a homeowner education course aimed at increasing financial literacy and home maintenance skills. They will also be asked to save for a down payment. These requirements support successful homeownership among the families of veterans and military service members.
