Opportunities for Veterans:

Habitat for Humanity Tucson has specific programming and funding designed to aid our veterans of the United States Military. We have a commitment to serving our nation’s heroes and veteran neighbors by providing home repairs and homeownership opportunities. We are currently seeking individuals who are eligible for no-cost home repairs, or individuals and families who are interested in pursuing homeownership. Other resources for veterans are available.

Housing Opportunity for Veterans with Service-Connected Disabilities

Habitat for Humanity Tucson and Old Pueblo Community Services are working together to provide housing rehabilitation services for disabled veterans in Southern Arizona. Through funding provided by the State of Arizona Office of the Attorney General, home rehabilitation services will be provided free-of-charge to returning to the community Veterans who have service-related disabilities from service in the U.S. Military.

Housing Rehabilitation Services

This program is designed to provide disabled veteran homeowners with no-cost services to improve the condition and safety of owner-occupied homes. Housing rehabilitation services may include projects addressing home livability, safety concerns, accessibility upgrades, and/or home weatherization to improve energy efficiency to reduce utility costs.

A priority will be placed on projects that increase home livability for disabled veterans, including:  accessible fixture retrofits in bathrooms and kitchens,  plumbing and electrical repairs,  HVAC system installation, as well as ramp connection and ramp modification in order to increase structure mobility, stability and safety. 

Eligibility Requirements

Program participants must be Arizona residents who are veterans of the United States Military with a service connected disability. The home must be owner-occupied, as well as be the veteran’s primary residence. Participants must be up to date on mortgage payments, property taxes, and, at the time of application, must hold valid homeowners insurance.

Please note that neither rental properties, nor home businesses qualify for home rehabilitation services.

How to Apply

Please contact Shianna Searcy at Habitat for Humanity Tucson at 520.326.1217 ext. 209 or shiannas@habitattucson.org. Participants will be asked to complete an application for service, as well as provide documentation of veteran status, disability, and homeownership. Financial information provided in the application will be used to determine eligibility for this program, or other related housing programs. All information provided by the veteran and their family will remain confidential.
