In 1962, John Rafferty moved to Arizona with his family. Over the course of the next 53 years, John made the Tucson community his extended family and built a legacy. As CEO and President of Stewart Title & Trust of Tucson, Inc., John grew the company to financial success even through some of the most difficult of economic times. He is most known for his devotion to his family and his employees and their families and his kindness to everyone he came across which was most often manifested in his service to the Tucson community.

John served on the boards of Peppi’s House of Tucson Medical Center and La Frontera. He also spearheaded an annual drive for the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, was active with the Hearth Foundation, and contributed to Homes for Heroes, Honor Flight, Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson, Tu Nidito, the TMC Foundation, Youth on Their Own, and numerous other local charities. In 2012, he was named Tucson Father of the Year for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Over the years, Habitat for Humanity was one of the charitable organizations that John held dearest. Of the over 400 homes that Habitat has built in the Tucson community, John participated in over 200 of them.

On May 19, 2015, John Rafferty lost a brief battle with Melanoma and Tucson lost a devoted servant. Please join us in honoring the legacy of John Rafferty by helping us build the next Habitat for Humanity House…the House that Rafferty Built.
