Copenhagen Chair-ity Event raises over $5,000
On Friday, March 21, 2014, Copenhagen Imports hosted an amazing fundraiser that benefited Habitat Tucson. Store owners Jorgen and Cynthia Hansen recruited 17 local artists to create one-of-a-kind artwork using a chair reminiscent of iconic Danish designer Arne Jacobsen’s Series 7 chair designed in 1955. Seventeen pieces were donated and they were all incredibly creative and unique. Each chair was auctioned off and all proceeds went to our organization. The Chair-ity Project event was well attended and gave us an opportunity to share with attendees about what Habitat is doing in the community.
The money raised from this evening will go towards building homes in southern Arizona.
Copenhagen is a family owned furniture store that has a philosophy that clean design is more sophisticated than heavy ornamentation. The store, so visually stimulating was a perfect backdrop for the event. Chairs were displayed in the front area each highlighted on a raised platform.
Artist included: David Adix, Carol Ann, Curt Brill, Steven Derks, Gonzalo Espinosa, Moira Geoffrion, Aryan Hart, Matthew Kauffman, Barbara Rogers, Liz Vaughn, Shirley Wagner and several more.
“Copenhagen has been a great partner with Habitat Tucson,” said Joseph Howell, Habitat Tucson’s Interim Director of Development. “Long before the Chair-ity Project, Copenhagen would regularly refer clients to donate used furniture to the HabiStore. With the Chair-ity Project Copenhagen has found another way to support Habitat.”
Thank you Copenhagen for a fabulous evening and supporting Habitat Tucson.
