The Ramirez Family

Jose Ramirez and Irene de la Paz are thrilled to become Habitat Homeowners! They are so excited that they completed their Sweat Equity in record time.

Jose, Irene, and their two daughters moved to Tucson two years ago from Los Angeles, where the rising cost of living forced them to relocate. A move that has put them on a great path. Their daughter Jocelyn, 15, is a sophomore at Cholla High School and is excelling in her studies, especially the Early Childhood Education courses. Briselda, 9, is in the 4th grade at Tuller Elementary School and really likes math.

“When we got the call that we had been approved for a home I was thankful for this great opportunity,” Irene said. “We are really excited about our new life.”

Currently the family is living in a two-bedroom, one bath duplex and the girls cannot wait to have their own room. “We will bond more now that we will have our own rooms,” said Jocelyn. “Our new home will bring less stress because of the lowered payments and no interest,” Jose said, reinforcing that proving a safe home for his family very important to him.

Currently Irene works in housekeeping at La Cañada Life Care. Jose is a truck driver by trade but is disabled at the moment and unable to work.
