The Clark Family

When asked what being approved for a Habitat home means to Shannon she said, “Everything.  A new beginning for me and my daughter.  We’ve been through a lot.”

And she certainly has been through a lot.  In 2007, Shannon lost her grandma and, only days later her older brother was killed in a car accident.   A few months later, Shannon lost the twin babies that she was had been carrying for six months, and a year, later she and her husband divorced.

Shannon received the call that she had been approved for a home while at a movie with her mom and daughter Caprice, 4.  When she got the voice mail after the movie, she said, “I almost cried.  I told my mom to listen and then my mom started crying.  It was great.  It was the best voice mail I’ve ever had.”

Shannon works as a Medical Records Clerk.  She and her daughter currently live with Shannon’s parents.

Caprice likes to ask, “Mommy, we’re getting a new house?”

“She’s happy,” said Shannon with a smile.
