The Acosta Family

Claudia can’t wait to move into her new Habitat for Humanity home. She can’t wait for her daughters, Dafnhe and Dailea, to each have their own room in a house they own instead of the one-bedroom apartment they all share now. She can’t wait to decorate and she especially can’t wait to be only blocks from her big sister, Orfalidia, who moved into her Habitat home in June 2008.

Claudia is a single mother who works full time as a hairstylist. She works hard to juggle home life, motherhood, her job and finishing her sweat equity hours, but says it’s all worth it to have a home of their own.

Claudia and her daughters will move into their Building Freedom Day home in the Corazon Del Pueblo home development in the summer of 2009. Their home was started at Habitat’s 7th annual Building Freedom Day on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the twin towers. Building Freedom Day was created to honor the victims of the attacks by celebrating hope and the American Dream.
